Pepper, a charming-looking humanoid robot, is a collaboration between Aldebaran Robotics and Japanese communications giant, SoftBank. The main purpose of Pepper is high-level human interaction which is enabled by a highly complex, cloud-backed voice recognition engine that is capable of understanding and identifying speech, but also inflections, tonality and subtle changes in human voice. Pepper is also able to learn from previous interactions, while its 25 sensors and cameras are providing information about the environment and humans it is interacting with. Pepper is an emotional robot, not a functional robot for domestic use with dishwashing or vacuum cleaner functionalities. Pepper helps people grow, enhance their lives, and connect them with the outside world.
